Turrieta and Martinez

Mount Pleasant High School senor art student Alejandro Martinez placed 11th in the Star of Texas Youth Art Competition at the Texas State Fair. Martinez’s work was also part of the Star of Texas Youth Art Auction in Austin recently.
Mr. Gilbert Turrieta, this year’s President of the Star of Texas organization, purchased his work of horses in a pasture at the auction for $600.
“I am extremely proud of Alejandro for this,” said his MPHS art teacher Jerry Boyd. “The piece of artwork that won 1st place at the fair only brought in $650 at auction. And to have the president of the organization buy Alejandro’s work speaks to his artistic talent. Alejandro will be adding this $600 scholarship to others he was won to attend NTCC in the fall.”
