Brice Earns Three Gold Performance Awards
E.C. Brice Elementary received three TEA Gold Performance Awards for 2008-2009. The campus was recognized for Comparable Improvement in Math, Commended Performance in math and Commended Performance in Writing.
"For a school to receive a commended performance in math or in writing, at least 30 percent of students on the campus in five different groups had to score at the commended level on that specific TAKS tests, an increase from 25 percent last year" Regina Conroy, MPISD Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “Comparable improvement is based on the growth in student performance from one year to the next and compares the change to that of 40 schools with similar demographics. The campuses in the top twenty-five percent receive the Gold Performance Acknowledgement. These awards show that our students are achieving more than a year's growth in reading, math and science."
